Employee Spotlight: Jacquelyn Martin, CPA

Jacquelyn plays a crucial role in managing tax clients and overseeing projects for HJ&S. She brings a wealth of experience to her role as Tax Manager at HJ&S, having spent the last 6 years immersed in the profession. A graduate of Western Washington University with a double major in accounting and finance, Jacquelyn brings both education and dedication to her work. Upon joining the firm in 2024, Jacquelyn seamlessly integrated into the vibrant culture of HJS, infusing it with a refreshing perspective that resonates with clients and co-workers alike!

Outside of work, Jacquelyn finds joy in engaging in hobbies like puzzling, cross-stitching, and tackling home improvement projects. Her strong family ties, rooted in being the youngest of three siblings and her father being the youngest of seven, hold significant importance in her life. Jacquelyn cherishes every moment spent with her family, whether that be playing card games together or showering their pets with affection!

  • What fictional place would you most like to visit? The obvious answer is Hogwarts.
  • What is a new skill that you would like to master? Increasing my flexibility so I can do the splits! I teach fitness classes on the side and am constantly working on my mobility.
  • What do you wish you knew more about? History! Some of my favorite movies are renditions of infamous stories of inventors and conflict.
  • What’s the farthest you’ve ever been from home? My trip to Europe in 2022. We backpacked all around Italy, Budapest, and Greece.
  • What question would you most like to know the answer to? What our pets would say if they could speak.
  • What is the most impressive thing you know how to do? Organize spaces. My dream would be to own a home organization/design business.
  • What was the best compliment you’ve ever received? I was told by a quiet person in my fitness class that they feel comfortable and welcome when I am instructing. If I make one person feel seen I feel fulfilled.
  • What accomplishment are you most proud of? Going from being terrified of public speaking to gaining the confidence and vulnerability to be a fitness instructor. It has helped tremendously in my career and personal life when it comes to speaking up.
  • What was your first job? Working at a golf course as a range kid. I cleaned and prepped carts and drove the tractor on the driving range to gather golf balls. My golf coach worked at the course and helped me get to districts and state on the high school team.
