HJS Remote Work Update

Updated Remote Work Policies for HJ&S CPA’s

This letter was recently sent to HJ&S clients regarding our updated remote work policies and office locations. We are posting it here as well for extra visibility.

We hope this letter finds you well as we continue into a warm Spring and take a much-needed break after a long tax season.

We are writing to update you about some post-pandemic operational changes at Hauser Jones & Sas, and in particular with our remote work force. For the past seven years we have maintained physical offices in both King County (Bellevue) and Pierce/Thurston Counties (Puyallup). We have done this primarily to support our team and to facilitate client service to our South Sound friends and clients (No one willingly wants to commute daily up or down Hwy 167 or I-5, so maintaining a physical office in both Counties made sense at the time).

This all changed during the pandemic when we were forced to temporarily close both offices and out of necessity 90% of our team started working fully remote. Fast forward to today, and we like many other CPA firms have formally relaxed our in-office work requirements because much of our team now prefer to work fully remote. We didn’t anticipate that a remote work force could be so productive and happy! Also, most of our clients have adapted to the remote work environment without much fanfare or incident.

Now today at HJ&S we find ourselves with a greatly reduced need for physical office space and the lease term in our Pierce County office is also expiring. Accordingly, after much thought and in consideration of the wishes of our team, HJ&S has decided to allow the Pierce County office lease in Puyallup to expire effective June 30th and our Pierce/Thurston County team members will be working fully remote or working from our Bellevue office location.

Though we will no longer have a physical building in the Pierce/Thurston County areas, all our staff that previously sat at a desk in the Puyallup office will now be working remotely on a permanent basis or working from our King County office. Even without our physical office in Puyallup we are committed to you as our clients and our team will continue to provide you with exceptional audit, accounting and tax services going forward.

Our Bellevue office will remain open and many staff continue to work in-person every day. So if you prefer to visit in-person at our physical office building you may continue to do so. However, for those of you who do not want to drive up I-5 or Hwy 167, please rest assured that you won’t have to drive to the Bellevue office to get us any accounting or tax documents that you may want us to receive. You can always scan your documents to us through our secure portal (Suralink), or if you prefer, we have opened a Post Office box inside the UPS Store in downtown Puyallup that will be checked regularly by our Puyallup accountants, and you can mail or drop off your documents at our new UPS Store business address. Many of our staff may also be willing to meet with you in person, including at your home or office as appropriate, or for coffee at the local Starbucks.

If you have any documents in the Puyallup office that need to be picked up, please communicate with your accountant by June 14, 2023. Documents that are left will be safely transported to the Bellevue office and later returned to you.

Our new downtown Puyallup business mailing address is:

Hauser Jones & Sas PLLC
1002 N Meridian Ste 100 PMB229
Puyallup, WA 98371

We thank you for your business and look forward to providing you tax and accounting needs in the future.

Best Regards,
