Internal audit outsourcing provides an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve your operations. It helps management and the board of directors (or supervisory committee of a credit union) accomplish their objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal control, and governance processes.
Should you consider outsourcing?
Many companies rely on internal audit outsource “partnering” arrangements to achieve their goals on managing risk. This is often done to balance scarce resources, meet time-sensitive goals or address complex or large systems critical to the organization. Whether done internally or outsourced, internal audits are most effective when performed by competent professionals in conformance with the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing as promulgated by the IIA.
